Terms of Use
Welcome to For The Boards. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of fortheboards.com and related pages (the “Site”), free sample materials, and products offered for sale (together, the “Services”). By using the Site or buying a product, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site or Services.
1. Who operates For The Boards
For The Boards (“For The Boards,” “I,” “me,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a personal project and brand operated by an individual based in California. It is not a separate corporation, LLC, or formal company. Money from sales is personal income of that individual. The project offers a physical high-yield study companion for use alongside question banks during ABIM exam preparation, free specialty sample PDFs, and information for residency programs.

2. Educational purpose — not medical advice
The Site and our materials are for education and exam study only. They are not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. They are not a substitute for clinical training, supervision, hospital protocols, or professional judgment. Always rely on qualified clinicians, current guidelines, and primary sources when caring for patients.
No exam outcome guarantee. We do not guarantee that you will pass any examination, improve any score, or achieve any particular result. Success depends on many factors outside our control, including your preparation and the exam itself.
3. No affiliation with ABIM
ABIM® is a registered trademark of the American Board of Internal Medicine. For The Boards is an independent educational project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the American Board of Internal Medicine or any question-bank company. References to ABIM or exam blueprints are for descriptive educational purposes only.
4. Eligibility
You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to purchase products. The Site is intended for adults in medical education and related professional contexts—not for children under 13.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Site and Services only for lawful purposes. You will not:
- Scrape, bulk-download, or republish the Site or sample PDFs in a way that competes with or substitutes for our product;
- Upload malware, attempt to break security, or interfere with the Site;
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when requesting quotes or contacting us;
- Use our content to train commercial AI models or build a competing study product without our written permission.
6. Intellectual property
The Site, book content, sample PDFs, branding, graphics, video introduction, and related materials are owned by For The Boards or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
Personal study license. When you purchase a physical book, you receive ownership of that physical copy and a limited license to use its content for your own personal study. When you view or download free samples, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use them for personal evaluation and study only.
Except as allowed by law (such as fair use) or these Terms, you may not copy, share, post, resell, or distribute our content (including sample PDFs) to classmates, programs, shared drives, or public websites without prior written permission. Program bulk purchases are licensed for the residents covered by that order as described at the time of sale.
7. Free samples
Specialty samples are provided free to help you evaluate format and fit. Samples may be incomplete chapters or excerpts. Features and page counts in marketing copy are approximate and may change between editions. Samples may be updated or withdrawn at any time.
8. Purchases and payment
Individual purchases are processed through Stripe (Stripe Checkout or Payment Links). Card data is handled by Stripe, not stored by us as full card numbers on our servers. Stripe’s terms and privacy policy also apply to the payment process.
By completing a purchase you represent that your payment and shipping information is accurate and that you are authorized to use the payment method. Prices are listed in U.S. dollars unless stated otherwise and may change. Taxes and shipping (if any) may be added at checkout or communicated for program orders.
9. Shipping, risk of loss, and delivery
Physical books ship to the address provided at checkout or on a confirmed program order. Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees. Title and risk of loss pass to you when we deliver the order to the carrier, except where mandatory law says otherwise. You are responsible for providing a complete and correct shipping address.
10. Returns, refunds, and damaged items
- Damaged or defective books. Contact us within 14 days of delivery at [email protected] with your order details and a brief description (and photos if possible). We will repair, replace, or refund at our option.
- Change of mind. Because the product is a physical study book and free digital samples are available to evaluate format before purchase, all sales are final except for damaged/defective items as above or as required by law.
- Wrong item. If we shipped the wrong product, contact us and we will correct the order.
If your local consumer law requires a different return right, that law controls to the extent it cannot be waived.
11. Program and bulk orders
Residency programs may request bulk pricing (for example, a lower per-resident price when ordered through the program). Quotes provided by email or form response are invitations to order, not binding contracts, until we confirm quantity, price, shipping, and payment in writing. Program pricing, timelines, and invoicing may differ from individual checkout. You agree that information you submit on a quote request is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
12. Feedback and content suggestions
If you send corrections, additions, or other feedback, you grant For The Boards a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, adapt, and publish that feedback in our materials. If we implement your suggestion, we may credit your name in a future edition and may donate a stated amount to charity as described on the Site—those programs are voluntary goodwill practices, not contractual entitlements, and may change.
Do not submit confidential patient information or material you do not have rights to share.
13. Third-party services
The Site may use or link to third parties (including Stripe, Formspree, font/icon CDNs, and embedded documents). We are not responsible for third-party sites or services. Your use of them is at your own risk and may be subject to their terms.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SITE AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALL WARRANTIES ARE DISCLAIMED, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. THERE IS NO WARRANTY THAT CONTENT IS COMPLETE, ERROR-FREE, OR CURRENT WITH every guideline or exam change, or that the Site will be uninterrupted or secure.
15. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE INDIVIDUAL OPERATING FOR THE BOARDS, AND ANY CONTRIBUTORS OR SUPPLIERS, WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR EXAM OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR SERVICES—EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE OR SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE PRODUCT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US$50).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted. California consumers may have additional rights that cannot be waived.
16. Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify the individual operating For The Boards against claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the Site or Services, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right—except to the extent caused by that individual’s willful misconduct.
17. Governing law (California)
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would require another jurisdiction’s law. You agree that state or federal courts located in California have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services, except that injunctive relief may be sought in any jurisdiction to protect intellectual property. For a mailing address for formal legal notices, email [email protected].
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms by posting a revised version on this page and changing the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where mandatory law requires a different process for material changes.
19. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and the individual operating For The Boards regarding the Site and Services. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without consent; they may be assigned if the project is transferred. Sections that by nature should survive (including IP, disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnity) will survive termination of your use.
